The Alien

virgin cherry bomb

The little hand quivered as it tentatively reached out to explore the visage of the alien creature. Frightened, the child withdrew but ventured forth once more. He could touch it. Sure he could. Finally, with determined jaw and great intestinal fortitude he slowly cupped his little palm around the first frog he had ever seen. His reaction was immediate as he leaped back, giggling.

"That's awesome," he told his Aunt Sheryl. "Totally awesome."

This was written as part of an exercise at a writers workshop. The child was Michael, my grandson and he was two years old at the time.

I feel like I'm following OH! How funny!!

I like this short as well. Very nice.

I need more "Michael" stories. What a great name, btw. That's my oldest son's name. He was supposed to be Nicholas, but he was born on Christmas Eve, 3 weeks early. Thought Nicholas would be kinda mean, so did the ob doc. So I borrowed a Bible for the night, trying to find a good name. I almost named him Gabriel, so I wouldn't have a Gret and a Gabe. But something in me just screamed "MICHAEL! HIS NAME IS MICHAEL!!", so I went with that. Sometimes, you just gotta listen to the voices in your head, huh?

Oh yeah, one other thing...

I'm gonna link your blog on mine, ok? If you don't want me to, leave me a comment over there and tell me to take your link off. I'll do that without a problem. I just like to keep my favorite people linked. It makes it easier to check on them that way.

Ok ScopeDope, you need to blog more, so I have new places to put comments!

I loved the story of your bag. I have a few Cherry bags of my own. It's become a slight obsession for me. My first one was the one from themichelefund auction on ebay. Then my friend Kel brought me this beautiful green one. A few weeks ago, in Richmond with Kel, I bought a white one. I use the black one daily, and used the white one when I crashed a bachelor party last week. I haven't decided when to use the green one yet. Maybe I'll bring it with me to NJ!

And don't worry, the secret of your bag will stay between us. Well, us, and whoever happens to read the comments in my blog. ;>)

Hey there!

i didn't know I'd be the one going to Toronto until a couple of days ago. My daughter and DH will be there Friday night, then we switch on Saturday. We are actually staying near the airport in Mississauga. Then the rinks are in Etobicoke, but i won't have any free time since they have like three games each day. I'm sure I'll be up there again, miss daisy!
